Founded in 2021, the mission of SD ReFocus is to help digital leaders and teams leverage modern practices to deliver greater value to their customers, demonstrate their business impact, and unlock their full potential.
We provide independent consulting and training services based on over 30 years of experience for companies of all sizes and across various industries.
Founder Patrice began his career as a software engineer, where he gained hands-on experience working on projects of all sizes, ranging from one person to several hundred people. Always keen to improve the quality of the products and services delivered, these operational roles were very quickly accompanied by cross-functional roles focusing on methods, quality, and knowledge sharing within communities of practice.
After several years riding the e-business wave as a project manager and technical leader, Patrice embraced a career in consulting for IT organizations. Many engagements have enabled him to acquire recognized expertise as a change agent, helping to assess or benchmark the current situation, define improvement targets with associated metrics, and support transformation plans.
Continuing in these advisory roles within a software provider allowed him to complement his methodological expertise with support for integrated tool-based solutions. He was thus able to help his clients adopt agile and DevOps practices using ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) solutions that promote team collaboration throughout the software lifecycle.
It was through consulting work with clients that he discovered Value Stream Mapping (VSM) workshops. These practical experiences revealed to him the full power of their application and sparked his desire to learn more about applying Lean principles to the software world.

Since SD ReFocus was founded, Patrice has joined the VSM Consortium (now Flowtopia), where he actively participates in community development and the sharing of expertise and experiences in adopting these practices. The Value-Driven newsletter contributes to this effort to share and build bridges between our communities.
At SD ReFocus, we believe that practices and tools are useful, but that team effectiveness depends first and foremost on people, interactions, and skills. Our consulting and training services are based on these convictions, promoting collaborative approaches to break down silos, align expertise with common goals, and contribute to skills development.
